Joint Pain - Causes And Treatments

By Peterson Kharker at 2010-01-12 05:00:36
While there is no cure for joint pain, you can get relief from joint pain. The treatments range from changes in your lifestyle, medications, medical equipment and/or surgery.

Joint pain is very common to adult people especially those ages 45 and above. Many people at this age experience creaking of knees, hips and ankles. However, this is not necessary a result of aging but it could also be arthritis. One of the most effective treatments of join pain is exercise though medicine also offers a lot of alternative medications.

The most common source of elbow joint pain is known as tennis elbow. This is when the outer tendon becomes inflamed from overuse of the lower arm, such as when you hit a ball with a tennis racket.

The twisting motion can irritate the tendon, causing you pain. Though it is called tennis elbow, such elbow joint pain is not always caused by tennis, as many athletes know. With the constant motion required for sports using the upper body, the possibility of having elbow joint pain increases and it is very important that precautions are taken.

There are many possible causes of hip joint pain, which means that it important to consult your doctor and together work through your symptoms, and history so that you can identify the real cause of your pain and take appropriate action. Some causes a relatively minor and can be treated with some over-the-counter medication or simple rest and immobilization while others are serious medical conditions that may ultimately lead to surgery.

One of the most common causes of spinal pain is spinal arthritis. This condition can be caused by several things but is most commonly caused by degeneration and the wear and tear of the muscles and bones and the resulting inflammation. Other causes might include past injuries that can become aggravated or past surgeries. Symptoms of spinal arthritis are varied.

Many people who suffer from spinal arthritis notice an increased stiffness in the spine, which might worsen after periods of inactivity, particularly in the morning just after waking. Other symptoms might include pain and numbness in the back, neck, head, and shoulders.

The pain is mainly caused by the inflammation of joints and muscles. Sometimes the symptoms resemble that of viral flu, as an acute pain in joints and muscles can make someone feel really sick. The symptoms at times may resemble those of arthritis, as the joints, which have an aching pain also, get swollen and become tender. In some patients the joint pain might not be so acute, but intense muscle inflammation may result in loss of strength.

In order to ease pain of the joints it may be necessary to take any excessive weight off the joints. Most people automatically do this if they are in pain. If your knee is sore you are going to refrain from putting your full body weight on it. It is common for sufferers to feel as if the pain is in the bone. This is because inflammation of the joints is so close to the bone it feels like the pain is in the bone.

Joint pain can be due to several causes and the treatment is dependant upon the cause of the pain. Joint pain is a common complaint often associated with aging process. Unusual exertion or overuse of joints can cause body joint pain. Other causes include injury, Arthritis, Tendonitis, Bursitis, Infectious diseases like influenza, measles, rheumatic fever, hepatitis and mumps, and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.
